I Love You More...

My son sent me an e-mail last week, asking me to make a card.  His wife is away visiting family and will be gone for Valentine's day.  He told me what it should say.  This makes me laugh, because I know my son is a gamer from way back.  I think as soon as he learned computers in Kindergarten, he played games, and now its a profession for him (he's a programmer).  I'm sure she will love the sentiment!

I made this using the Cricut and Design Studio, using the Pooh Font and George Cartridges.

Thanks for looking....enjoy your Saturday!

Kerr-Bear

My granddaughter, Kerri is becoming quite the ham.  She is very vocal and loves to pose.  Doing the lay outs for her first year pictures, I see her little personality developing.

This layout was done using papers from the DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies Stack, and title cut with the Gazelle.

Thanks for looking.

My Favorite Subjects

My two granddaughters are my favorite subjects to photograph and to scrap.  Its so much fun to try to capture the silliness and the affection between these two little girls.  I believe they will be very close growing up.

These photos were taken last summer, 4th of July weekend.  It was warm and sunny and while we sat out on the balcony, I was able to snap these pictures.

Titles and flourishes were created with the Gazelle.

Thanks for looking.

Happy Birthday Kayla

My dear granddaughter Kayla celebrated her 4th birthday this week and Saturday was her party.  I made this card for her, because she loves Tinkerbell.  Unfortunately, I was sick and could not attend.  So, later this week, I'll have a special party for Kayla.

I made this card using the Design Studio and Cricut Expression. The size is larger than what I usually make for a card - its 8 1/2 x 5 1/2.  I used glitter paper for Tink's dress and shoes, used stickles on the stars and Rock Star paper for the background of the card.

Thanks for looking.

Looking for Spring

I know, its only January 24, but I'm already looking for Spring.  The snow covers the ground, the temps remain below freezing, and dealing with the usual winter illness, I'm so ready for spring.

In that pursuit to find spring, I'm posting these cards that remind me of longer days, and the hint of color emerging from the ground.

Both of these cards were made with Cuttlebug embossing folders embellished with Skittles and ribbon.

Where ever you are, I hope you find your spring!

Granddaughters

I just adore my two granddaughters and they are the main focus of my scrapbooking.  I also enjoy photographing them.  Here is a layout I did of one of the earlier photos I got of the two of them together.  Kayla did quite well adapting to her baby sister.

This layout was made using Core'dinations paper, embossed with the mosiac embossing folder and the Cuttlebug.  The text was cut using the Gazelle.

Thanks for looking.  Have a creative day!

More Fun with the Cuttlebug

Here are a few more cards created with the Cuttlebug.  The first one I used Core'dinations paper (Vintage Collection), Second one, I used Black Magic Paper.  The Third, I used a white linen paper by Beckett.  Used the border embossing folders on all of them.  With all the birthdays and family occasions this year, its nice to have a stash of cards on hand.

Enjoy your sunday.  Its cold, but the sun is shining brightly here!

Wedding Cards

I love when simplicity and elegance can be achieved when making a card.  Here are two that fit that category.  Both were made using the Swiss Dots folder for the Cuttlebug, Sizzix corners, and the  bells and cake were cut from the Wedding cartridge for the Cricut.

Enjoy your weekend.  The weather warmed up a bit today and it was a pleasure to walk to the market today!

Cutting Acrylic

I had a few questions regarding the cutting of the acrylic I used in the photo book I posted.

I bought the blade from Lowes that is sold in the same area as the acrylic.  The trick is to score it several times, then putting the sheet on a hard surface (I use my work desk)  Put the acrylic on a table, with the scored edge slightly away from the edge of your table.  Then, hold one hand on the side that is on the table FIRMLY and then with the other hand, press down on the edge that is sticking off the edge of the table.  Do this quickly as to snap the acrylic apart.

Mind you, the only time I tried this is with the 8 x 10 size.  The larger sheets, I will ask the clerk at Lowe's to cut it for me.

I hope this helps!

Acrylic Photo Book

This was a special order I completed before the holidays.  It is an acrylic photo book.  I used 8 x 10 sheets of acrylic, cut in half.  (I got the acrylic sheets from Lowe's)  The acrylic is embellished with white ink and pen and the paper is DCWV Glitter paper (the customer requested "Tiffany Blue").  I enjoy making acrylic books, its a very different medium to work with.

Hope you are all staying warm for those of you who are suffering through the arctic temps.  Wishing you warm and creative days!

Pink Christmas

When the past season's Christmas scrapbook paper appeared in the stores, I wasn't sure about all the pink themed paper I found.  I didn't think I would be able to use it.   But when I looked for paper to scrap these pictures, I found the pink paper was perfect.  These pics were from Kerri's first Christmas.  She slept through the entire time we opened gifts.

After using this paper, I know I can experiment with colors that aren't so traditional.

Thanks for looking.

Simple Yet Elegant

Here are a few more cards.  They are simple yet have an elegance to them.  Two of them could be used for Valentines day or a wedding or anniversary.  They are all made with the Cuttlebug and various embossing folders.

Hope you are enjoying the postings...please leave a comment, I'd love to hear from you.

I had fun creating cards Saturday and Sunday.  Here are two of the 28 cards I created.  The first one is made with Cuttlebug With Love mini folders and Score Pal, using Chocolate Box paper by Core'dinations.  Printed paper is from DCWV adhesive stack. The verse is stamped on scalloped circles cut with the Cricut.

The second card is made with two different color papers and Cuttlebug folders Swiss Dots, Tiny Bubbles and one of the mini folders from With Love set and Scor Pal.

More cards to come....

Being Creative on a Snowy Day

The weather has been very snowy for the past few days, and its only going to get worse instead of better.  For me, its a perfect time to stay inside and create.  I spent the weekend making cards and I'm really looking forward to sharing those with you all.  But for today, my feature is another LO of my Granddaughter.

I'm trying new ways to complete my layouts.  This one in particular, I have used Core'dinations paper, tearing the edges, Studio K printed paper, the scalloped edge flourish corners and text were created on my Gazelle cutter.  I also used my Gazelle to print the date, using just a pen in the blade holder.

Hope you are staying warm this cold January Monday!

Koala-t hugs,

Cathy

The weather has been very snowy for the past few days, and since I don't like to go out in the snow, I've been spending my time being creative.  I spent the weekend making new cards and am anxious to show them off.

Today's feature is another layout of my Granddaughter, Kerri.

Sugar and Spice

Today's project is another Layout.  I couldn't wait to use this paper as I had the perfect photo! This is my granddaughter, Kerri at 3 months old when she first started smiling.  And she looked just so darn cute wearing that huge bow!

The background paper is DCWV Sweet stack,  the pink plaid is DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies stack, and the brown is from the Chocolate Box collection by Core'dinations (I cut the scalloped circle with my Gazelle)   Title and flourish also cut with my Gazelle.

The weather is going to be very snowy this weekend, so it looks like I'll have plenty of time to scrap!

First Layout for the year

Its been months since I've done any actual scrapping, so it felt good to get back to it.  I have PLENTY of photos that need to be scrapped.  It was slow at the start, since I'm so out of practice, but once I got rolling, I enjoyed the process.

This layout is of photos when my second granddaughter was born  in November 2007.  For the background and photo mats, I used cardstock from DCWV Nana's Nursery.  Heart boarder and text were cut from Bazill's Smoothie's cardstock, cut with my Gazelle paper cutter.  Flowers are Petaloo.

Acrylic Princess Book

I LOVE making acrylic books!  I love the look of them and enjoy the different mediums you can use to decorate them!  This is a Clear Scraps book I bought late last summer and finally got a chance to make this.  I used Glaze White pen on the tips of the crown, used pink Souffle pen for some of the pages.  The paper is from the DCWV All Dressed Up stack and various Prima flowers and Sparkle gems.  Now to find some pics of my granddaughter to put in it!

Thanks for looking.  Have a Creative day!

New Year = Fresh Start

Last year was such a busy year, many things got out of hand around here.  One in particular is a walk in closet in my scrap/computer/creativity room.  Every time I walked into that closet to get something, all I could think was "I've GOT to clean this out!"  It became a catch all for all my excess project supplies, fabrics, my granddaughter's toys, wrapping paper and gift boxes.

Well, today was the day.  I started early, little by little, taking everything out, sorting to trash, donate or keep.  It took me all day, but I finished my new years project!  Now I can actually walk into my walk in closet!

Here's hoping you are achieving your new years goals!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope you all survived the holiday season!  It was wonderful spending time with family, the gifts received were perfect and "Cookieland" was bigger and better than ever!

Now that all the excitement and rush of the Christmas season is over, its back to creating and getting to those projects I've been putting off for months (maybe longer!)

Here is my first completed project of the year.  It is a Christmas gift for my mom.  It should/would have been finished in 2008, but we celebrated Christmas part 3 today, and I'm a bit of a procrastinator (I'm working on that!)

" WE LOVE NANA"  word book was created using my Cricut Expression and the Winnie the Pooh Font cartridge.  I used American Crafts textured card stock (This is my first time using it, its a very nice weight), in earth tones, as these are my mom's favorite colors.  The photos are of all her 12 grandchildren, their spouses and 3 great-grandchildren.  Some of the corners and flourishes were created using my Design Studio software and Expression.   Others were created and cut with the Gazelle cutter.

Thanks for looking...here's to a very creative 2009!
