I've always seen these but never made the time to try my hand at decorating them. On a Saturday afternoon, while waiting out a summer thunderstorm, I saw a display of them and decided to purchase a box and give them a try.<br />
<br />
I viewed several You Tube videos on where to start and after gathering my needed supplies, I found I was hooked! I LOVED making these! <br />
<br />
I started using the glitter method. I read of a few different types of medium to put inside the ornament like floor wax or even Min wax, but I chose liquid hair spray. You know, the type that comes in pump spray bottles, not aerosol cans. I swished the hair spray inside the glass ornament, poured out the excess. I let it set upside down for a minute or so, then I placed a funnel in the opening and poured in fine white glitter. I shook it around and it covered the inside. It gave a thin layer, but I liked the way it looked. I then cut out images using my Cricut Explore and Oracal vinyl. These are the first few I did and I am very pleased with the results. I've made several more, but will show them in future posts.<br />
<br />
The ornaments shown I put an image on both sides of the ornament. <br />

This gold ornament I used gold glitter, using white Elmer's glue, slightly diluted but I didn't care for the results as much. But the gold glitter really looks pretty.<br />

<br />
These ornaments are 4" in diameter and are not completely round. They have a flatter surface on front and back and that makes it much easier to place vinyl images on it, without puckering of the vinyl.<br />
<br />
Hope you liked my ornaments so far. I have many more to show, but will save them for future posts. If you have any questions regarding these, please contact me, I'd be happy to answer them. I will be listing these in my Etsy shop also.<br />
<br />
Enjoy the warm weather, the cold isn't too far behind!<br />

<br /></div>
<div>
I know Christmas is more than 4 months away, but later in the year, I am busy with sewing costumes. I wanted to make a few Christmas items before I am knee deep in fabrics and thread.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am absolutely hooked on making box cards. I like them because not only are they a unique way to send greetings for any reason, but they can be a little decoration for the receiver.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2s5NB0so3r7t1vVCPd9znVNFjslgtzXMALbitU8F3Btnj2kmJhJ_VPP04xK0P2fGPMRpW87Bj9-CFWaLjCKClhwz-5QLdy7QFApXVlIRtdU8oLZHxl3lIoSnVrVz7rFmco-I3ngkBiXVF/s1600/christmasboxcard.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2s5NB0so3r7t1vVCPd9znVNFjslgtzXMALbitU8F3Btnj2kmJhJ_VPP04xK0P2fGPMRpW87Bj9-CFWaLjCKClhwz-5QLdy7QFApXVlIRtdU8oLZHxl3lIoSnVrVz7rFmco-I3ngkBiXVF/s1600/christmasboxcard.JPG" height="304" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I created this box card all Cricut images. The box itself I cut by hand. Its got a lower and wider base to it and is perfect to add little scenes.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The plan is to make a few more and post on Etsy. Wish me luck!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Have a great day!</div>

I've never done a video, but here is a quick tutorial for making this size box.<br />
<br />
When folded flat, the box measures 6 1/2" wide, and 4 3/4" high. The box is cut in two parts. I created a file in Design Space for the Explore for the basic shapes (You can also cut them by hand)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFststRninlDYjlWFz0fYRdixAXO4E-R90atR_Uf_1GwV7veIXwalu5GDL0cvbC7zHRSVau-ke-3nWp-XG78bb-WATGdv9LbyTM2DQe_LP00AsWfU2x80S7iXWTgzYF-x6Qyn9mKWRnc_r/s1600/IMG_4101.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFststRninlDYjlWFz0fYRdixAXO4E-R90atR_Uf_1GwV7veIXwalu5GDL0cvbC7zHRSVau-ke-3nWp-XG78bb-WATGdv9LbyTM2DQe_LP00AsWfU2x80S7iXWTgzYF-x6Qyn9mKWRnc_r/s1600/IMG_4101.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Top shape is 9 1/2" wide and 3" tall. The two shapes on the left are the inserts for inside the box to hold all the elements. They are 5 1/2" x 1 1/2".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0QMgvAP5Jo_4NiwTM0CgVUyGTMZnZsx_MdE3n4eXp9DA-bNkhlP2LZIGuo4jhxt2awi7gb0WcHii7g7FJnnZqDjm8Gg-F0s1GEE12A1DeIyyQDVlHOX0L7g7ZMmXNM6nvW8FADirq93bd/s1600/IMG_4103.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0QMgvAP5Jo_4NiwTM0CgVUyGTMZnZsx_MdE3n4eXp9DA-bNkhlP2LZIGuo4jhxt2awi7gb0WcHii7g7FJnnZqDjm8Gg-F0s1GEE12A1DeIyyQDVlHOX0L7g7ZMmXNM6nvW8FADirq93bd/s1600/IMG_4103.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
After they are cut, I score the two strips at 1/2" in on each side, so at the 1/2" mark and the 5" mark. The second piece is scored vertically at 1/2", 2 1/2", 7" and 9" Turn the piece lengthwise, and score at the 1 1/4" line all the way down. The back panel has no score lines.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNKAFyJUf72ijtDimO9Vx81SDqKTEOxBtPiSpi9b2Ky4uScg2fsd2mBs3mYa6V5iBgi4-J9XAeV4MSjJ1ThW6prlMFzECbkJbmrxYteciLcJKPvgoxI7voJxwu8cHLY1VDd52R-HhFmYET/s1600/IMG_4104.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNKAFyJUf72ijtDimO9Vx81SDqKTEOxBtPiSpi9b2Ky4uScg2fsd2mBs3mYa6V5iBgi4-J9XAeV4MSjJ1ThW6prlMFzECbkJbmrxYteciLcJKPvgoxI7voJxwu8cHLY1VDd52R-HhFmYET/s1600/IMG_4104.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
On the bottom piece in the above photo, I cut the fold line to the middle score line, and then on an angle towards the main piece. Did this on both sides of the piece. The part that is left is for attaching to the back of the box. I also snipped the vertical fold lines at the top, these are the box parts that fold out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvbflgrBNr0ie6Q0USK-ohk5EepybTKAYBkvZ82nxw0aOIyXw4vDxfmoT4MfcK1eFFqj6MiyFDz_y-mdM8aYrynpXY-92-Rtx-Gg2rn-AAiro-7KiLoMzAlaByobeg0dNTeibcqPZkKiGz/s1600/IMG_4105.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvbflgrBNr0ie6Q0USK-ohk5EepybTKAYBkvZ82nxw0aOIyXw4vDxfmoT4MfcK1eFFqj6MiyFDz_y-mdM8aYrynpXY-92-Rtx-Gg2rn-AAiro-7KiLoMzAlaByobeg0dNTeibcqPZkKiGz/s1600/IMG_4105.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
Fold on score lines, and this is what it will look like.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNa97KPIewvJmt54Aw7bEy7klSTRJpuFUhnOzEdGSFmV3wXKJL_QSEmhTwpg-Hm-DOfbacTcG4b-6KYMGzQPRq98-Iz__uXOUR415uVliLYof0kukyaFq_8XsN1pwcblGT6Wy_7iuOZdqz/s1600/IMG_4106.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNa97KPIewvJmt54Aw7bEy7klSTRJpuFUhnOzEdGSFmV3wXKJL_QSEmhTwpg-Hm-DOfbacTcG4b-6KYMGzQPRq98-Iz__uXOUR415uVliLYof0kukyaFq_8XsN1pwcblGT6Wy_7iuOZdqz/s1600/IMG_4106.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiapsnDxrkUNtcxO41JUBvjTX6B1cArOZzRIepQIkvpIiPXnj4nPXyyxm0WV3vckiM7qAhfaYeFlQUn8etcLrgZdZt-wmRM6-9lidNjsG1Yn72Ka7ZbmvA_s4GI3HpffCXfFzmwqh_tYg3O/s1600/IMG_4107.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiapsnDxrkUNtcxO41JUBvjTX6B1cArOZzRIepQIkvpIiPXnj4nPXyyxm0WV3vckiM7qAhfaYeFlQUn8etcLrgZdZt-wmRM6-9lidNjsG1Yn72Ka7ZbmvA_s4GI3HpffCXfFzmwqh_tYg3O/s1600/IMG_4107.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
Add score tape (or your adhesive of choice. Score tape is very strong...you don't want the box to fall apart. Attach to back panel.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj414tpYf2HsTy62dnxpIiVrFJNEcoeGInGK7AR85z36U61DU1FUdG_zScSyQoqTPhH4ss6DV8-_A4HeOyenmxMQEhrbDvGeDrJcjcunbc-Vn4pgza4OEPnSP62ba_AXP7KxyKNjttS2zmo/s1600/IMG_4108.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj414tpYf2HsTy62dnxpIiVrFJNEcoeGInGK7AR85z36U61DU1FUdG_zScSyQoqTPhH4ss6DV8-_A4HeOyenmxMQEhrbDvGeDrJcjcunbc-Vn4pgza4OEPnSP62ba_AXP7KxyKNjttS2zmo/s1600/IMG_4108.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is your assembled box. Add your decorative paper and box is done. Add elements and that's it! I've made other boxes that measure 5" high by 6" wide when folded flat. I make these in 2 pieces, both measuring 5 x 6 1/2. The 1/2 " is the flap, when trimmed as above, attaches to form the box.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hope this is information is clear and helpful. If you have any questions, just post in comments and I will try to answer.</div>

They are a unique way to send greetings to friends and family for birthday, get well, or any holiday! I want to sell my creations so I've been busy creating different types of box cards to post on Etsy.<br />
<br />
My first holiday themed box cards are for Halloween. I love Halloween, probably because its also my birthday! Great reason to have a party! Here are three Halloween box cards I've made so far.<br />

<br />
All three were made with Cricut Images from various cartridges all cut using the Explore. The box measures 5 x 6 when folded flat. I will do a tutorial for the box size in the near future, as I've had several requests for the measurements.<br />
<br />
Halloween is only 3 months away, so I hope to be making more of these fun cards in the near future!<br />
<br />
Have a great day!<br />

I've always been a fan of the Cricut, and have tried other cutters, but the Explore is far and away the best cutter I've worked with. I have cut images large and small and all cuts are clean and crisp. I love how quiet it is (I'm a night owl and tend to worry about excess noise late at night from my cutter). I have been cutting Cricut images and SVGs. Basically, the sky is the limit as to what I can create with the Explore.<br />
<br />
Its been a long time since I've posted, so I thought I'd start up my blog again and share some of the projects I've made using the Cricut Explore.<br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">I've created many projects since getting my Explore, but I have to say my favorite so far has been the pop up box cards. I have made quite a few of these so far and they have been well received. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">My daughter asked to make cards for my granddaughter's dance teachers. She gave me some information about the teachters and these are the cards I created.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>

The plan is to post projects that I've created over the summer.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">The first in this series is a tote bag. Well, it was several tote bags. I got the idea when I was trying to figure out what to give my daughter for her birthday in June. I knew that she and her family were traveling to Disneyworld in October and I had seen a version of this tote on my favorite Embroidery design site (Embroiderylibrary.com). I decided to make a few different versions of the tote and have Katie choose the one she liked the most.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">The first one I made was made with two different colors. Now, I am the first to admit that I am NOT a quilter, and the style of this tote has some quilting type of assembly. I embroidered the classic characters from Disney and for one of the squares, I used a verse for a different look.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPH9U0bBb4xlAznvKcA_I8Ryo14Ln5hlhtxKhUPUqpMrZz8hNL7HBeqmcpasvsfXGjIf41HRbX-gYTwScsK8TM_2oCSlnZMHkm0FBEDQnUyq-Yp7K6LRlwU3WBeal3aPaVWaK50Vmy2PdP/s1600/IMG_1543.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPH9U0bBb4xlAznvKcA_I8Ryo14Ln5hlhtxKhUPUqpMrZz8hNL7HBeqmcpasvsfXGjIf41HRbX-gYTwScsK8TM_2oCSlnZMHkm0FBEDQnUyq-Yp7K6LRlwU3WBeal3aPaVWaK50Vmy2PdP/s320/IMG_1543.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">The other side of the bag features more classic Disney characters (all of these characters, except for Pinoccio are built into my embroidery machine. Inside the bag I put a zippered pocket, two slide in pockets and a small change purse attached with a cord.</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhACL72D7BS4CZ0iu_rt6xeDGwzy5kM2jvvFjtdf_3jZ06E0pJhlvWyLx121zUGfNnvu6vjCuSzAX07dE7am8micjazr4KNr7kuG4zVuZRdp-LXZxgdGZIFZlrRQ2SMKFum4bvYQmITub0K/s1600/IMG_1544.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhACL72D7BS4CZ0iu_rt6xeDGwzy5kM2jvvFjtdf_3jZ06E0pJhlvWyLx121zUGfNnvu6vjCuSzAX07dE7am8micjazr4KNr7kuG4zVuZRdp-LXZxgdGZIFZlrRQ2SMKFum4bvYQmITub0K/s320/IMG_1544.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"> The second one I made, I used more images from my sewing machine. One one side I used some of the older versions of Mickey and Minnie, plus two designs that could be used for quilting. This bag was made with blue denim fabric.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">On the opposite side, I used the more modern versions of Mickey and Minnie.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Another version of this bag, I stitched a grouping of Disney characters.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">And on the opposite side, I stitched individual characters. I made this bag from denim also. Can you tell I really like denim? Its a very sturdy fabric and holds up well with embroidery.</span></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibYVoogpOAIFwPsGZxIndU00K54Wm2veuUxKyMtN_AzaDzM6uj7iA6vVKdAFUW5dVzwKEfHggB89Vz4G5q4tspn9THzb1RqErSdeE9AlNdkAfj28hzHYJYSrM_HeAC7OFZ7WnoAeXm2k-n/s1600/IMG_4709.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibYVoogpOAIFwPsGZxIndU00K54Wm2veuUxKyMtN_AzaDzM6uj7iA6vVKdAFUW5dVzwKEfHggB89Vz4G5q4tspn9THzb1RqErSdeE9AlNdkAfj28hzHYJYSrM_HeAC7OFZ7WnoAeXm2k-n/s320/IMG_4709.JPG" width="320" /></span></a><br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">I made one more bag, and changed it up a bit. I made it with a brown twill and used all Winnie the Pooh characters.</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">WHen Katie's birthday arrived, I showed her the first two and she liked the blue and black one. Then, my mom saw it and said she would like one, so she got the second one. The Winnie the Pooh one I am sending as a baby gift and I still have one left. I'm thinking I should keep it for myself!</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">I enjoy embroidery and its fun to make these items using the embroidery designs that came with the machine. My dream is to one day own one of the big, 10 needle embroidery machines. That would be awesome!</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Hi Folks! Hope you are having an enjoyable weekend. I finally got some pics of my latest creation and wanted to share.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">I've had this book in various stages on my desk for possibly 3 months. I was either interrupted with sewing projects or I just didn't know how to finish it. But I made the decision it had to be completed and here is the finished product.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">I cut the pages using my Cricut and Gypsy. I created the scalloped page (approximately 8 x 11 in size) using a scalloped edge and rectangle welded together. Then I used cardstock and DCWV adhesive backed fabric paper for the pages. Now, I thought the fabric paper would be easy to use. Not so much. In the future when I use this paper, I will use even edges so I can wrap the fabric/paper around the edges so I don't have to worry about little fuzzy edges. I had to trim little threads around the edges of these pages to make them look clean.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"> For the cover, I used the Twinkle Toes Cartridge for the stage setting. I"m not completely pleased with the cover design. It needs something. I plan to make another, using a flocked paper for the drapes. The dancers were cut in silhouette using Shall We Dance cartridge. If you see a slight glare on the first photo, its not your eyes. I used a sheet of clear acrylic to cover the cuts on the front of this book. This way it will protect the images and shapes after continued handling of the book.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">I used the spotlight and phrase also from the Twinkle Toes cartridge. Paper by Bazzill Bling and Coordinations.</span></div>

When I first found the Chalkboard paper from DCWV at Michaels, I was intrigued. I was always interested in markers and inks that show up on dark paper. I bought the DCWV chalkboard cardstock but once I had it, I wasn't quite sure how I wanted to use it. I had come across various forms of "chalk" and I started to research them. I purchased regular chalkboard chalk, Chalkmarkers and even a package of Crayola's Dry eraseboard crayons for dark surfaces.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">I let my granddaughters try the regular chalk, but that proved to wipe off almost immediately. Kayla made a birthday card for my son and worried the images would be gone before she got the chance to give it to him. I didn't have any fixative sprays (my Mom, the artist, uses this often on her art work), so I sprayed it with hair spray. That seemed to keep the artwork on the chalk board paper without smearing. I knew that I did not want to do this every time I wanted to use chalks, I had to spray it with hairspray!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">My next experiment was using the dry erase crayons from Crayola. I liked these immediately, as the colors were bright and strong. They went on smoothly onto the paper. I am not much of a free hand artist, so I found a design in my Cricut handbooks (Storybook) and cut it at the largest size that would fit a 12 x 12 sheet. I set the blade at 3, so that it would only score the top of the paper, not cutting all the way through. More like etching the paper. Its pretty cool because this paper does have a white core. Then I took the crayons and drew along the etched lines. Now, these crayons do rub off, not as easily as the regular chalk, but will come off with more vigorous rubbing. After outlining the cut lines, I took a soft cloth and used it as a blender, softening the color and rubbing it into the paper. Once blended into the paper, it didn't seem like it would rub off. This has been in a bin for awhile with other papers and it did not rub off onto the other papers. I was very happy with the results.</span><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Here is another example of using the Crayons on the chalkboard paper. This was a more floral design I cut with the Cricut. I didn't color the center of the design, as I will most likely cover it with photos.</span></div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">This next one, I etched another design onto the brighter colored chalk board paper. I did use a little white chalk, just to rub into the etching so the design stands out more. The first photo is a close up, and the second one is of the full sheet. Nice for a subtle design in the background.</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Two of my granddaughters are very active in dance. Both started before age 3 so I've already accumulated quite a few photos. I've been working on books different style books that I display their photos. I like the colors in this one (a bit busy, but colorful). I told the girls they can choose the style they want and we can work on the books together. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">I used my Cricut Expression to cut chipboard, using Elegant Edges and the Book Special feature to cut the pages. The paper is from the Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby's own line) stack called So So Sweet.</span></div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">I used Xyron 900 to adhere the cardstock to the chipboard. Many of the shapes I used are from the Shall We Dance cartridge.</span></div>

Hoping you are enjoying the cooler temperatures! I was nearly in shock when I opened my window Saturday afternoon to find the temperature had finally dropped. It was actually cooler outside than it was in my apartment!! Today is a bit warmer, but enjoyable.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Today's feature is a mini book with Wizard of Oz themed paper by Graphic 45. It was really a kit my daughter purchased from Archivers.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">My granddaughters are very involved with dance. One of the big production numbers this year was Wizard of Oz. Both the girls were in this production. Kerri played a scarecrow and Kerri (the 4 yr old) played Toto. Both were adorable, but Kerri was a star as she stole the show with her cartwheel entrance and shaking her little Toto tail.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">My daughter saw the kit and thought it would be a great gift for the girls' dance teacher. Since Katie is quite busy with the girls, dance lessons, summer school, etc, I offered to make the book and all she had to do is add the photos!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Here are the pages of the book. It measures 6 x 6 and has lots of fold out pages and pockets.</span><br />

I spent several months making tote bags and did quite a bit of embroidery. This is one of my favorite bags that I made.<div><br /></div><div>Two of my granddaughters are involved in dance and they are always toting shoes and dance clothes, regular clothes and needed big bags to carry it all in. This bag is perfect for the tiny dancer!<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitIEdQwnsMU5SyWUrkspT7E_Mt6-YdSGN1IqVDK6MVDulFwD_LtMKePA7qdnf8qV6ZuQZ6Y3VpP7HgAQQE1AzhX3PUk4YrD_x8hkwiVoaRiCsd4UNqX9oc_olnfI2M49vOOpEMWa9FO4Pl/s1600/IMG_4139.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitIEdQwnsMU5SyWUrkspT7E_Mt6-YdSGN1IqVDK6MVDulFwD_LtMKePA7qdnf8qV6ZuQZ6Y3VpP7HgAQQE1AzhX3PUk4YrD_x8hkwiVoaRiCsd4UNqX9oc_olnfI2M49vOOpEMWa9FO4Pl/s320/IMG_4139.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5725537016071155394" /></a><br /></div><div>I embroidered the design on the front of the bag, made with purple twill cotton fabric. I've changed the background and template of the blog. I like the bright colors. I changed some of the fonts - hope they are readable! I've also added a few things...the blog is still Koala-t Kreations, but added another title. My daughter and I have been selling at craft fairs for the past several years under the name of Cat n Kat Kreations. Not only will I be showing sewing and paper crafting projects, I will feature items for sale in my Etsy shop (which is also an addition to the blog)<div><br /></div><div>Hope you like the changes and stop by often to see what's new.</div><div><br /></div><div>Hope you had a great weekend!</div><div><br /></div><div>Koala-t hugs,</div><div><br /></div><div>Cathy</div>Cathy Thttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05486800821445521743noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059511695223835355.post-1870819382517420822012-03-21T11:14:00.003-05:002012-03-21T11:16:46.445-05:00A Change is a Comin'!Its been a long time! YEs, my blog has been sadly neglected but the time has come to make some changes and start sharing my work again. There will be some regular features and some new things to share. I hope you will come back and visit and see the changes. I hope you like them too!<div><br /></div><div>So, stay tuned and watch for the changes here on Koala-t Kreations and will be combined with Cat 'n Kat Kreations!</div><div><br /></div><div>See you soon!!</div><div><br /></div><div>Cathy</div>Cathy Thttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05486800821445521743noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059511695223835355.post-12772853060726378602011-10-19T23:40:00.004-05:002011-10-20T00:26:08.244-05:00Finally - I"m BAAAAAAAK!<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">Yes, its been a very long time since I posted on my blog. Projects that came up kept me busy, and they were not related to papercrafting. Although I had gotten quite disinterested in sewing, my daughter Katie had gotten me involved in some projects that got me sewing again. After sewing 11 double layered petti skirts for my granddaughter's dance recital, I realized I needed a new sewing machine. I was blown away by the new sewing machines and all they can do, I got a fairly basic sewing and embroidery machine. I'm hoping to trade up SOON!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">Katie and I decided to try something new for this years season of craft fairs, and we chose tote bags and purses. I realized that all I needed was a good machine for me to enjoy sewing again! I also enjoyed the process of fabric selection and seeing my work take shape. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">I'm also enjoying the embroidery part too. I always wanted to do this, but in the past, it was quite expensive for the designs which were only available on special cards. Now, I can download a few designs for a small cost. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">Our craft show season is upon us. The first one was a big disappointment as we did not sell one thing. In talking to other crafters, they didn't do well either. We have 4 more - one this coming Saturday and three in November. </span></div><div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">In the coming weeks, I'll direct you to our new website that my son in law is creating. It will feature sewing projects, embroidered T shirts and papercrafts. Yes, I'm still creating cards and scrapbooks. I'm currently looking for more ways to combine my two loves - papercrafts and sewing.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">One way I've found to combine them is cards. I can embroider designs on fabric or specially designed paper and use it to create greeting cards. Here are a few examples.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">This is the first one I made, for my daughter's birthday during the summer. Classic Pooh has been a favorite of Katie's since she was a baby. I embroidered on fabric, and attached it to cardstock. I used Elegant Edges for the frame, embossed with the Cuttlebug and added a few flowers.</span></div><div><br /></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUD4KQl7vDrDnEYBHB4Ug1QmlPYwJpRdw6EKYAUoHycvCkTGazZWx38_elvKyYabWxNqnV7LptLknnodgzZeh0u_nsgHvo-DgVSzL1tP8ZV9UrzcC5ryZgjv29tE-xqUfP5ecQxP48BL5T/s1600/embcard.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><br /></a></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 239px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqu8JMzKKWLSmJy7BSrMpqEutVhmruXMllRjPuMbRmGQ2Sb2EoFnRxDSg_MHrMQdhnAKFonpUvQfgOfruGeEBn4x8rMvJVvcmIGbgyr4uiid5nrlBsAp56nt0AbO5VDSWm9gvpDErLsitb/s320/IMG_1701.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5665434858443157890" /><br /><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">This was created for my mom's birthday that we celebrated this past weekend. I embroidered the design on special paper for embroidery. I created this frame in Elegant Edges, using pre-embossed Core'dinations paper. Happy Birthday was cut using Create a Critter Cricut cartridge and "Mom" was cut using the font on PaperLace. It has the creature comforts of my everyday routine - TV, DVD player, Computer, printer, a corner for my sewing and of course my paper crafting supplies and my Cricuts! When I moved into my current apartment, I figured since I spend lots of time crafting and creating, I made the master bedroom into my Studio. Its taken nearly 10 years to get it to the way I have it now and its a very enjoyable, comfortable space for me.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ-MfR4Ax2CMLOb6i-YQp-nVy-13HBvnZySrquUXcMX_tLt604OSGOxnp0LM6v3DPsxl3Sii0e4dflBREdh9ZpTone31MM66lfrt8x3_8fZv1ZErzJ5EtOZ9tPzxOP_LYi2KOBkUqwWmLt/s1600/IMG_4066.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ-MfR4Ax2CMLOb6i-YQp-nVy-13HBvnZySrquUXcMX_tLt604OSGOxnp0LM6v3DPsxl3Sii0e4dflBREdh9ZpTone31MM66lfrt8x3_8fZv1ZErzJ5EtOZ9tPzxOP_LYi2KOBkUqwWmLt/s320/IMG_4066.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5606809593654891858" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">The window faces north so I don't get direct sunlight, but the room is bright on sunny days. The far corner is my computer area, the shelves above it store my Cricut cartridges. I have found that a U shape work area works best for me. I also like having many of my tools and accessories within reach, so I have the shelving above my work space and the rails and cup system (from Ikea) also above my work space. I like this arrangement because I prefer an uncluttered work area. My E2 is one one side, and in the lower left corner you can see my Imagine. Just out of the photo is my sewing area (I avoided this area because its a bit of a mess, as I've been helping my daughter with costumes for a play she's working on and skirts for my granddaughter's dance recital. Also out of the photo on the right side of the room is a row of Jet Max cubes. These are great for storage and look good too!</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB2i7OQtHrkvuAqC5Sdxh1iBTL1Hrk5h-NOU4QdiVvtTvjjSRkeC99QpNXP6WULMCimhlZgiILgNGLOQ1ezjjQr-h0QiedlekCrGCyuD0QnlByasiPNhFos2zMpZ-hfY_NAdzaxSVt5X0I/s1600/IMG_4063.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB2i7OQtHrkvuAqC5Sdxh1iBTL1Hrk5h-NOU4QdiVvtTvjjSRkeC99QpNXP6WULMCimhlZgiILgNGLOQ1ezjjQr-h0QiedlekCrGCyuD0QnlByasiPNhFos2zMpZ-hfY_NAdzaxSVt5X0I/s320/IMG_4063.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5606809591139153810" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br />And here I am, smiling because I'm in my "happy place"!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">Thanks for stopping by!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">Koala-t hugs,</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">Cathy</span></div><div><div><br /></div></div></div>Cathy Thttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05486800821445521743noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7059511695223835355.post-35663453038129610432011-05-09T19:14:00.003-05:002011-05-09T20:40:30.246-05:00My E2 Is HERE<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">Well, it arrived last Tuesday, but this is the first chance I've had to write about it! Its profile is lower than the Expression and it is much more colorful! The front door, when open, rests higher than the Expression. I am thinking this is so the mat stays flat or even slightly higher than the roller so the paper does not bend off the mat. But this is just my own observation. Other differences I noticed - the silicone cover for the touch screen, and the silicone "plugs" for the connections for the Original cartridge, the Imagine Cartridge and for the add on to make the E2 wireless.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">It was very easy to set up and once I pushed the power button, I noticed how bright and clear the touch screen is.<br /></span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN6s1JbQtZF1ffKVldV598SxG0U5CZqi6JhyphenhypheneBEUoKMc1jjzxbQxU-jWBhQjIpCBEVFhLonvRsYfED1pLDZHKOh2ga6W51kJbl7mQ8yhC3JRqLcr9ARATBjDl_XdzFTbFgec4k2IgllFxc/s1600/IMG_1614.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN6s1JbQtZF1ffKVldV598SxG0U5CZqi6JhyphenhypheneBEUoKMc1jjzxbQxU-jWBhQjIpCBEVFhLonvRsYfED1pLDZHKOh2ga6W51kJbl7mQ8yhC3JRqLcr9ARATBjDl_XdzFTbFgec4k2IgllFxc/s320/IMG_1614.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5604878859269600450" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">Because I'm a long time Gypsy user, I did have to re think how to cut not using the Gypsy. The launch date is April 26 on Home Shopping Network.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">As part of the celebration, Provo Craft had a contest to win an E2. Entries were to be a Birthday themed 12 x 12 layout, made with Cricut and our choice of cartridges.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">I'm not one to do challenges, but I thought I would give this one a try. The first layout was quite challenging, the ideas were difficult to come by, but once I got started, I was able to complete 3 layouts (we were able to enter a maximum of 3). Five winners will be selected and many will be selected to be shown on HSN Tuesday.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">Here are my entries. I've seen some of the others so far and they are fantastic! So many creative Cricuteers out there! I would be happy if mine are shown on HSN during the day of the launch.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">This one was made using the Imagine. Using the Yummy cartridge, I cut the woman holding the cake and the flourish corners, border and "Celebrate" The photo mat sized to fit a 4 x 6 photo and the photo mat was cut using Elegant Edges (my FAVORITE Cricut cartridge), printed on the Imagine. Background paper is embossed Core'dinations.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyof56ur8Uz9gDzkOz5X1fuCaohNTJogd_VL35xQDlt0LSp7G5QC75PbQiY38M0MP5qmNJui-CwVYXHEXHRuRqM4dnHy4vfyx6ncx0DW9295hg0BkbrqzX9wDsOu1afoy-IDsRPLMGJvh4/s1600/IMG_4049.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 312px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyof56ur8Uz9gDzkOz5X1fuCaohNTJogd_VL35xQDlt0LSp7G5QC75PbQiY38M0MP5qmNJui-CwVYXHEXHRuRqM4dnHy4vfyx6ncx0DW9295hg0BkbrqzX9wDsOu1afoy-IDsRPLMGJvh4/s320/IMG_4049.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5598443835159689570" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">This one was fairly simple. Yesterday, I showed you the results I obtained using these papers with inks and glimmer sprays.</div><div><br /></div><div>Today, I am showing the results I obtained using my Cricut Imagine and these same papers.</div><div><br /></div><div>When the Imagine debuted last summer at CHA, the demonstrators talked about using glazed papers. I went on the hunt for these papers and found them at Archivers. Made by Bazzill, its their famous textured cardstock with a glazed design on the paper and at $2.00 a sheet, it was more than I like to spend on paper. I was anxious to try out this method so I purchased a few sheets in white and cream colored sheets.</div><div><br /></div><div>These first examples, I used Colorbok white textured cardstock (on the left) and the example on the right is the Bazzill glazed cardstock in the cream color. I liked how the colors looked deeper, the green/blue seems more intense too. Once I printed the papers in the Imagine, I took a cotton round and rubbed the ink off of the glazed areas. It did blur a bit on the edges of the paper along side the glazed design. I liked the way it turned out.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHq4swTrwHXwoz5uGe0ViKxxPmS9vq6k0XxntfADNipYQkj6OXkGeK2Pe2r2Eg9MJ-7qLWD4TVp9Wqz2rMak3nHnL8ckWwOMXTcARUgFhcBLr7qUKWXvcBxtVdY0WjHyRtocmijhAWKgiX/s1600/Imaginepapersmusicnotes.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 243px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHq4swTrwHXwoz5uGe0ViKxxPmS9vq6k0XxntfADNipYQkj6OXkGeK2Pe2r2Eg9MJ-7qLWD4TVp9Wqz2rMak3nHnL8ckWwOMXTcARUgFhcBLr7qUKWXvcBxtVdY0WjHyRtocmijhAWKgiX/s320/Imaginepapersmusicnotes.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585117997484024690" /></a><br /><div>Here is another example, using the same papers (but the Bazzill glazed is on the left side) Its kinda cool how the glazed design shows and the deeper colors of the printed design.</div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCGe_fUURtSfxP5O04npIBrDMaqkfY1MxHd9-QijZqWqcE2EO6SqNHdaIZQVv2BZnrlVcSF7zSKtZ2ZlWdBpfL1ViBVIj3DHpzx3NfnTdpXVVIBGlGgopk0UNzWf6MH-C4NsfWSwRAVOFU/s1600/Imaginepapersfloral.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCGe_fUURtSfxP5O04npIBrDMaqkfY1MxHd9-QijZqWqcE2EO6SqNHdaIZQVv2BZnrlVcSF7zSKtZ2ZlWdBpfL1ViBVIj3DHpzx3NfnTdpXVVIBGlGgopk0UNzWf6MH-C4NsfWSwRAVOFU/s320/Imaginepapersfloral.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585117987998580610" /></a><br /></div><div>Here is a close up of two more examples. Both of these papers are from the SEI pearlized paper stack. The design you get depends on how much or how little glaze there is on the paper. The paper on the left is mostly glazed and the swirls are the areas that retained the print of design from Imagine. The one on the right retained most of the printed design from the Imagine, as the glazed area was smaller. You can see the little flower designs on the paper.</div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg0F3kaw3NMJF2YSUrm3_bvXactwnDvxl8NHMf7x1TjTLobvr88QXVV4QN8DFWYuXer2t8bC5YBrflQnksKo0oe7N71jFEgqt8j5x892gUumHvdlwff6qDQcRuKIGCIu_smFx6eD-Bdw43/s1600/Imaginepaperscloseup.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg0F3kaw3NMJF2YSUrm3_bvXactwnDvxl8NHMf7x1TjTLobvr88QXVV4QN8DFWYuXer2t8bC5YBrflQnksKo0oe7N71jFEgqt8j5x892gUumHvdlwff6qDQcRuKIGCIu_smFx6eD-Bdw43/s320/Imaginepaperscloseup.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585117984929754770" /></a><br /></div><div>Here is another photo, of the above papers.</div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7t8bHB5_NUNgGRSTiOb5QKJPuR72lGP2ByvU0ClZZR5ZtXh8ofRfrhEPN8X1JL3Xi6yy-kFLnlsAsexyN2XwFptWkLuwTR3pl_S79quovsaigHrc6r6Q8V9mxFAoetMGpRZ9bETFwE0K2/s1600/Imaginepapers.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 253px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7t8bHB5_NUNgGRSTiOb5QKJPuR72lGP2ByvU0ClZZR5ZtXh8ofRfrhEPN8X1JL3Xi6yy-kFLnlsAsexyN2XwFptWkLuwTR3pl_S79quovsaigHrc6r6Q8V9mxFAoetMGpRZ9bETFwE0K2/s320/Imaginepapers.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585117979311380834" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Here is a layout I created using these papers. Its where you can use inks to create your own color paper with a design already printed into the paper. Since I'm impatient and couldn't wait for this paper to arrive, I thought I'd do some experimentation.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">In my paper stash, I had a package of White Elegance from s e i. Its a white on white paper,described on the stack as "pearly foil papers". I had made a wedding book with this paper and had some larger pieces to experiment with.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">I first tried Distress Ink with a cosmetic sponge and applied it to the paper. Now, I'm not the greatest when it comes to inks (or anything messy for that matter) But I was happy with the results. Here are some of my experiments.</span></div></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwcGxNbow9Lz65IWvFZvc2YcXyNCWiVrCrTPAC-x1r8TIEUQwdTqsVmq_XbekF7HeL2Fmxfkj7s2GUINoWtwjEDiOOE_nUGZXgROOHJNmqzN-wayIkxsh1q4qEs0pOJQo0mFuWFZnsgWa4/s1600/inkedpapers.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 279px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwcGxNbow9Lz65IWvFZvc2YcXyNCWiVrCrTPAC-x1r8TIEUQwdTqsVmq_XbekF7HeL2Fmxfkj7s2GUINoWtwjEDiOOE_nUGZXgROOHJNmqzN-wayIkxsh1q4qEs0pOJQo0mFuWFZnsgWa4/s320/inkedpapers.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584715915285630914" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /><br /></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">I received a different effect with each patterned paper I used. I have always loved the watercolor colored papers and designs and that is what I was going for. The paper would soak up the ink more in the "unglazed" areas of the paper and depending on how much or how little was on the paper is how light or dark the paper became. I did use a clean cotton square to rub the ink into the paper and to remove the ink on the glazed areas. All these are great for future card backgrounds</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">I used glimmer sprays on the next three examples. I was not very happy with these, as they (I used Luminart Radiant Rain) have a high water content and will warp the paper. If I want to use these, I will need to flatten them out. The effect is ok, but I really liked the inks better. I had more control over how much ink and where I wanted it and the ink didn't soak up the paper like the spray did. Because of the high water content, I only used one color on a card.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghlMcrAvTXdpZYc_e2ILozoaVnRREGQNpXdJFBDrYe-2lYjS1C0q4c-b-Pc8kNe62h6TdmGQiJDJ0HSFDMkWxZTfjO9pvKYyRIvoXZSPuG7MhtnHq-WKJSSBxCwnGube7W2jtzvLPFTPp6/s320/sprayedpapers.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584718020353442514" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 298px; height: 320px; " /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">Then I attempted to do an entire page. I used Bazzill's fairly new Glazed Cardstock. This one is white with white glazed images. On this particular sheet, its cupcakes. Hi all! Hope you are having a great Monday. I appreciate all that have been visiting in the past month when I've been AWOL from my blog. I'm back and hope you all continue to visit.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">Today's feature is a card made with several layers and one of my favorite papers - Core'dinations. I used this paper for the background, embossed with a Sizzix folder and sanded a bit to bring out the dots. Cricut Cartridge Cindy Loo was used for the open scalloped circle and its shadow. The shape is the circle design with the deer (page 69 of the handbook) and I used the Gypsy and the Hide Contour feature to remove the detail in the circle and just leave the open scallop design. The top circle with the greeting was cut using Cricut Cartridge Paper Lace - which is one of my current favorites!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">I tend to go for less is more and like the simpler cards.<br /></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBCMwCQl2fclSa5681jk0R0tOGGR8IkN_WLHaRha-dKMp1S_r8IhU35_a6bpElHtUEL2wRx2i0wd9ifw72Jb0vtPnnUkV2g2obX487RMKFWWIUZzs8co_UhRGUtIky9nRiyPJHA6n4_wr7/s1600/IMG_3945.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 246px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBCMwCQl2fclSa5681jk0R0tOGGR8IkN_WLHaRha-dKMp1S_r8IhU35_a6bpElHtUEL2wRx2i0wd9ifw72Jb0vtPnnUkV2g2obX487RMKFWWIUZzs8co_UhRGUtIky9nRiyPJHA6n4_wr7/s320/IMG_3945.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5584020808052441362" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'lucida grande';">Thanks for stopping by!
